Want to learn how to take a basic oval shape and turn it into a jellybean?
The Jellybeans workshop will take you beyond underpainting,.. beyond push and pull.
We will be delving into the form of objects, reading objects as surfaces, color bouncing and highlights, color kissing for artistry and realism.
Learn the roadmap to reading the form of an object; adding realism by interpreting photo references.
Students learn to look at the form of objects rather than the color to create greater realism in all their coloring projects.
Jellybeans is an advance level demonstration
We welcome colorers of many levels at Vanilla Arts, but basic marker painting techniques are not covered in this class.
Advanced classes assume you’ve mastered basic techniques and are ready for independent work using artistic skills. Read more about Vanilla skill levels here.

We do not recommend this course for first time Vanilla students.

- Push & Pull
- Underpainting
- Highlights and color bouncing
- Overpainting with colored pencils.
Course Includes:
- A two part, 28 minute Technique Deep Dive lesson in which Amy shows you the roadmap to reading the form of an object and translating that into your coloring.
- Over 4 hours of video demonstration which allows you to work at your own pace.
- Jellybeans digital stamp in three handy formats (PNG, JPG, or quick print PDF)
- Printable photo reference, underpainting guide, detailed color map, and full color sample

Required Supplies: complete printable supply list included in class package
- High-quality Copic friendly marker cardstock (X-Press It Blending Card or Cryogen Curious Metallic White is recommended)
- Copic Markers
- Technical pens - Staedtler Triplus Fineliner (0.3)
- Artist quality colored pencils (Prismacolor Premier colored pencils use for this project)
- Glassine paper
- Mod Podge brush or Hake dusting brush.
- Clipboard or hard surface (glass mat is recommended)
- Drafting tape.
- Pencil, pencil sharpener.
- Erasers - black and white polymer, white sticky tack, Tombow Mono Zero (round)

Your Instructor
Amy is a professional freelance technical illustrator with 25 years of experience in graphic arts. Amy began using colored pencils in 1985 and she started with DeSign markers in 1989. Colored pencils with a base of either marker or watercolor is her preferred process for portraiture and scientific illustration. She has a special passion for teaching crafters and shy artists to stretch their boundaries by adding established fine art techniques to their coloring projects.
