Marker Painting is a completely different approach to coloring with markers. Amy teaches students basic techniques and color theory based on the way artists use paint. Instead of focusing on "how" to color a selected stamp image, Amy shows you the "why" behind color selection, shade, layering, and depth. This provides students with the necessary knowledge to color any stamp image in their collection and every stamp they might purchase in the futu
Tonic requires confident Copic and colored pencil skills.
Skill Level: intermediate and advanced skills (not for beginners)
In a 24 minute Technique Deep Dive lesson, Amy shows you the entire Parchment technique and offers lots of troubleshooting tips.
Then in an 6 part series of fully narrated coloring demonstration videos, students will practice coloring the Tonic image. Instruction includes all elements: the cast shadow, base markering, and the entire process of coloring authentic texture for realistic glass. 90 minutes of total project demonstration time.

- high-quality Copic friendly marker cardstock (X-Press It Blending Card is highly recommended.)
- Staedtler Triplus Pen (0.3) in Light Gray, Willow Green, Sepia Brown
- Copic Markers- 0, C2, C0, BV23, BV20, E31, E33, E50, YG17, YG23
- artist quality colored pencils (Prismacolor Premier recommended)- 109 Prussian Green, 901 Indigo Blue, 945 Sienna Brown, 946 Dark Brown, 1005 Limepeel, 1065 70% Cool Grey, 1088 Muted Turquoise
- Derwent Drawing Pencil #7200 Chinese White (must be the Derwent DRAWING Pencil, not a Derwent white colored pencil)
Your Instructor
Amy is a professional freelance technical illustrator with 25 years of experience in graphic arts. Amy began using colored pencils in 1985 and she started with DeSign markers in 1989. Colored pencils with a base of either marker or watercolor is her preferred process for portraiture and scientific illustration. She has a special passion for teaching crafters and shy artists to stretch their boundaries by adding established fine art techniques to their coloring projects.
